Fear No More: How to Deal with Presentation Anxiety and Be Confident

Beat the Butterflies: Anxiety Management

Presentation anxiety, or glossophobia, is the most common fear in the world. It's real, and it can paralyse even the most talented voices for hire. But you can manage it.

Here’s a trick that works wonders. Deep, diaphragmatic breathing. Right before you start, take three slow, deep breaths. Breathe in through your nose for four seconds, hold for four, and exhale through your mouth for six. This simple act physically calms your nervous system.

Also, over-prepare your opening. The first 60 seconds are the most nerve-wracking. If you have your opening memorised and rehearsed until it's automatic, you can glide past the initial anxiety hump. Remember, your audience wants you to succeed. They are on your side.
